Get ready, London. The Morgans Hotel Group is planning to bring its trendy Mondrian brand to town, joining other Mondrian hotels in New York, Los Angeles and South Beach, Miami. Mondrian is known for its stylish, whimsical interiors; design guru Marcel Wanders did up the Mondrian Miami like a fairytale dream. The South Beach hot spot also gets props for its talked-about, “semi-automatic” vending machines in in the lobby, where you can purchase the likes of designer sunglasses.
The new Mondrian London will occupy Sea Containers House, a prime piece of real estate on London’s South Bank which was originally built in the 1970s. This former office space will be converted into a luxury 358-room luxury hotel with retail space, destination restaurants and bars.
Morgans currently operates two other hotels in London: the Sanderson and St Martins Lane. More Mondrian hotels are planned for Doha and the Bahamas.
