New 20 Hands Massage at Maui's Grand Wailea Resort

Grand Wailea Resort

Grand Wailea ResortSure, a 4 hands massage can be found on spa menus the world over- from Bangkok to Boston. But a 20 hands massage? We’ve never seen anything like this. Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort in Hawaii will be launching this new spa treatment in September: a massage made up of 20 hands and 100 fingers massaging couples simultaneously from head to toe for two and a half hours. Available in September, the 20 Hands Duo Massage was created in honor of the spa’s 20th anniversary and will be available through September 4, 2012.

The lavish treatment starts out with an hour of relaxation time in the termé hydrotherapy circuit featuring a Roman whirlpool hot tub and cold plunge, eucalyptus steam and redwood saunas, traditional Japanese furo bath, three cascading waterfall massages, Hawaiian tropical jet showers and a complimentary full-body exfoliation.

Next up: A 30-minute foot soak, exfoliation and pressure-point foot massage, before the couple relaxes on the massage tables face down on lavender-scented neck pillows. Then 10 therapists work their magic; one therapist is focused on the scalp, one on the lower left side of the body, one of the lower right side of the body and two on the upper portion of the body including back and torso. The Swedish massage technique is performed in perfect unison.

After the massage, the guests are given the lavender-scented neck pillows to take home. Spa Grande’s 20-Hands Duo Massage is $2,000 including taxes and gratuities. 24 hours advance reservation required, based on availability.
