New Cabaret Venue Opens in New York

This weekend, legendary New York nightclub-turned-theater Studio 54 got a new supper club and cabaret venue that already has some of Broadway's best talent booked.

54 Below kicked off with performances from Jackie Hoffman, and Tony-winning star Patti LuPone will begin a two-week run at the venue this week. Later this month, Smash star and Tony-nominee Brian d'Arcy James will also perform, and Ben Vereen will take to the stage in July.

Even the space sounds dramatic: According to the New York Times, patrons will enter the club by descending a long staircase. In the main room, the walls, chairs and artwork are red, purple and brown, mixed with wood and leather. Shaded lamps light the booths. Cabaret seating accommodates about 140, and a small bar seats up to 16.

The club will be open seven days a week with two shows most evenings; bar and food service will be available during and after performances.

54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street in New York City. Visit http://54below.com for tickets and more information.
