Nightlife in Marrakech: Djellabar for Food and Drink

Djellabar, MarrakechLooking for a happening restaurant-bar in Marrakech? There continues to be lots of buzz about Djellabar, the latest venue from Paris nightlife and music guru Claude Challe (behind the Buddha Bar empire). Needless to say, the soundtrack at his Marrakech hot spot is fantastic. Housed in a former wedding hall dating from the 1940s, Djellabar has a style that’s retro cool-- with a healthy dose of “Pop Attitude.” (Just check out the portraits of iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, Nelson Mandela, and Bob Marley, each wearing the Moroccan fez.)

The restaurant serves up a cuisine that’s described as “Marock’n Roll”—plenty of authentic Moroccan dishes spiced up with Asian accents, inspired by Challe’s extensive travels. The bar has a tapas menu, even featuring mini tagines.

Djellabar is located at Villa Bougainvillée, 2 rue Abou Hanifa, and is open seven days a week. For more information, visit www.djellabar.com
