Private Island Resorts: Song Saa Opens in Cambodia

A new, private-island resort has opened in Cambodia, and it’s getting a lot of press love. "Think luxury, high-end design with a little rustic chic,” says In Style. "At last it is possible to combine a visit to the temples of Angkor with a stay on Cambodia's unspoilt coast,” says House and Garden. The Financial Times How to Spend It also sings the praises of The Song Saa Private Island. Developed as the first luxury resort on Cambodia’s coastline, Song Saa is comprised of 27 seductive villas spanning two islands called “Song Saa” (Khmer for “The Sweethearts”) in the Koh Rong Archipelago.

The owners are all about eco-friendly sustainability, taking steps to protect the surrounding marine reserve (filled with seahorses and exotic species of tropical fish) and introduce projects for the local community. Built with respect for the natural environment, each of the villas has its own pool. There’s also an infinity pool, a world-class restaurant helmed by chef Neil Wager (formerly at North Island in the Seychelles), a spa suspended in the rainforest, a water sports center, and a yoga and meditation center. All surrounded by dazzling white sand and turquoise sea. Can we say wedding bells?!
