Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London has announced its summer line-up of events for 2015, which will be staged on the hotel’s artisan deli and cake shop terrace, LÁNG.
Summer activities will include the RHS Chelsea Flower Show from May 18 - 24 and live Wimbledon broadcasts from June 26 - July 12.
As an added touch: The Chelsea Flower Show will have arrangements designed by the hotel’s florist, Laura Kuy, and include blooms on display originating from Asia. The floral arrangements will have jasmine, peonies, Kent-sourced lavender and (our favorite) hydrangeas. The event will also offer guests an assortment of pastries, including raspberry and rose cream éclairs, lavender cream tarts and violet mousse macaroons.
The Wimbledon tournament will be broadcast live on the LÁNG terrace, and the hotel will offer guests specially-created cakes including Centre Court, a lemon mousse tart; SW19, a Pimm’s jelly with cream; and a Grand Slam, a tennis ball-designed creation with champagne and strawberry filling.
In addition, Shangri-La will offer a month-long summer “Gin Terrace” at LÁNG in August. The event was designed to celebrate “all things summer”, and the terrace will serve sharing pitchers and punches of gin and tea-infused delights along with gin-infused cakes, ice lollipops and non-alcoholic beverages.
