Travel to Paris: New Chanel Store Opens on Avenue Montaigne

Chanel Store on Avenue MontaigneFashionable jetsetters will be pleased as punch to learn about Chanel’s new flagship store which opened on the Avenue Montaigne in Paris in March 2012. In designing the palatial space, New York architect Peter Marino was inspired by the apartment of the label’s founder (Coco Chanel’s pad at 31 rue Cambon).

The shop is decked out in gold—channeling the Byzantine art that Mme Chanel loved. And bespoke commissioned work by contemporary artists Jean-Michel Othoniel, Ingrid Donat and Peter Dayton mimics Mme Chanel’s own art collection. Even the chairs look like the wing armchair where she was photographed by Horst in 1937. Accessed by a white marble staircase, the private salons upstairs create an intimate ambience.

Surrounded by high fashion, the new store is located at 51 Avenue Montaigne in the heart of the Golden Triangle. For more information, visit www.chanel.com.
