A growing trend at luxury hotels looking to impress their guests: the services of a salt sommelier to help diners season their dishes. When Luxury Travel Advisor traveled to Abu Dhabi last month, we met the “Salt Guru” at Qasr Al Sarab, Anantara’s Desert Resort. The resort’s gourmet restaurant has a trolley with dozens of specific salts: Hawaiian Sea Salt (to accompany smoked salmon); Durango Hickory Smoked Sea Salt (for meat and poultry); Peruvian Pink Salt (for seafood risotto).
Colorful salts from Bolivia, Bali, France, and the Himalayas rounded out the display. Each dish merits its own specific salt, and the Salt Guru directs even the pickiest of foodies.
