Traveling Gourmet: Soneva Fushi Appoints New Chef

Something's cooking at Soneva Fushi by Six Senses in the Maldives. We hear the luxury beach resort has hired Michelin-starred chef Bjorn van der Horst as its new Executive Chef.

In his new position van der Horst will oversee the culinary developments at Soneva Fushi. The resort's main restaurant, Ever Soneva So Down To Earth, will be transformed with a brand new concept (think northern Mediterranean). Guests will be encouraged to order from a selection of mezze dishes for two, three, four or more people. We love the 'summer family meals' concept (think whole chickens, fish, shoulders of lamb and bouillabaisse).

The resort's fine dining restaurant, Fresh in the Garden, will focus on modern Maldivian cuisine with a dash of Sri Lankan and Southern Indian flavors.

New on the menu: We hear that as of September the resort will embark on an Asian tapas adventure. Diners will be able to choose five, seven or nine dishes with typical tapas-sized portions, accompanied by a complimentary list of wines and sakes by the glass.
