Coming up on September 8: the long anticipated debut of Union Market in Washington D.C. Guaranteed to add a spark to a thriving food scene, the brand new indoor marketplace will be home to 40 find food artisans from the region. These local vendors, all champions of authentic food, include Trickling Springs Creamery, Carolyn Stromberg’s Righteous Cheese, Red Apron Butchery, Oh! Pickle, Peregrine Espresso, Lyon Bakery, and Rappahannock River Oysters, a family-owned operation behind the celebrated Merroir Tasting Room on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. There will also be stands for beloved local food trucks, D.C. Empanadas and TaKorean. Soon there will also be a soda shop from mixologist Gina Chersevani.
To fete the grand opening, Union Market will host the Second Annual DC Scoop Artisan Ice Cream competition on September 9, 2012.
Inspired by San Francisco’s Ferry Building, and similar to NYC's Chelsea Market, the Union Market is located at 1309 5th Street NE in the nation’s capital, accessible via the NoMa-Gallaudet University/New York Ave. station on Metro's Red line. For more information, visit unionmarketdc.com
