W London Leicester Square Opens (W)riter's Library

W Hotel London- Leicester SquareIn another bid to up the cool quotient in the British capital, the W London-Leicester Square has transformed its Lounge into a sexy (W)riter’s Library, curated by journalist Damian Barr (formerly the "Reader in Residence" at Andaz London). He selected 10 authors to recommend 10 books each; these volumes-- including books by Warhol, Fitzgerald, Dr Seuss and Atwood --are inscribed with hand-written notes explaining why the authors chose the particular titles. The 10 authors in the (W)riters’ Library are Bret Easton Ellis, David Nicholls, Hephzibah Anderson, Geoff Dyer, Ned Beauman, Alex Preston, Naomi Alderman, Sloane Crosley, Jake Arnott and Craig Taylor. Here’s how BookHugger describes the sexy new hang-out for the city’s literati:

"Unlike most rooms for books, The (W)riters’ Library isn’t dusty, or hushed or boring. There is no dull person peering over shoulders or stopping people reading something they shouldn’t. Instead, it is a stylish sanctuary, a place with comfortable nooks to sink into, cocktails on hand to help ease into a literary journey and best of all, each book tells its very own personal story of how it came to be there."
