Zooey Deschanel to Play Loretta Lynn in Coal Miner's Daughter

Big news for Broadway: Country music legend Loretta Lynn has chosen Grammy and Golden Globe nominated actress Zooey Deschanel to portray her in an upcoming Broadway-bound stage adaptation of her memoir, Coal Miner's Daughter

Like the book and the Oscar-winning movie before it, the stage version of Coal Miner's Daughter will tell the story of Lynn's rise to fame, from her impoverished Kentucky childhood to her success as an icon of country music.

According to Playbill magazine, the creative team and dates (and theater, of course) for the production will be announced in the coming months—but it would not be hard to imagine Lynn's life being told through her own music. (Our fingers are crossed.)

Tickets will most likely be available at telecharge.com or ticketmaster.com.
