Find Rejuvenation With These New Wellness Opportunities

The idea of a wellness trip is evolving, it doesn’t just mean intense workouts or a one-on-one session with a dietician anymore (though those options exist). Now, there are more and more wellness packages that travelers can participate in between heading to the beach or visiting the sites. Here are a few new wellness opportunities to consider.Full Moon

El Conquistador Resort and Las Casitas Village, Waldorf Astoria Resorts in Puerto Rico is now offering a guests a chance to seek wellness at night. That’s right, after a day exploring the island, guests can unwind and exercise with new full moon yoga classes. Set on a 300-foot bluff – complete with starry views – guests will practice their yoga moves in the Casitas Garden, adjacent to the spa labyrinth. The next full moon and class will be on February 22, followed by March 23, April 22, May 21, June 20, July 20, August 18, September 16, October 16, November 14 and December 14. Tip: Need a new yoga mat before attending? Manduka offers eco-friendly yoga gear that is lightweight and ideal for travel. We suggest the eKO Superlite Travel Mat for full moon yoga.

Not visiting during a full moon? Don’t feel left out. Guests can also book three- and four-day wellness retreats, available since 2015. Although this is a larger time commitment, the activities are things that travelers would want to do regardless. There will be hikes in the nearby El Yunque Rainforest, kayaking in the Bioluminescent Bay, twilight yoga, beach boot camp (you can do it) and spa treatments. The program takes guests to the pool, local attractions, the outdoor labyrinth and indoor studio for daily experiences.

Do you want to add a quick touch of wellness to a vacation? The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto is inviting guests to create their own Zen garden, which include elements of rocks, moss and white stones. These gardens offer a place for quiet contemplation, though guests will be making miniature versions. The class is led by a master gardener and is available daily, upon request.

Cruise lines are also offering guests more wellness options. Silversea Expeditions is releasing a new line up of Wellness Expedition Voyages for 2016 and 2017. There will yoga and Pilates classes both onboard and at destinations (depending on the location). Then it's off to fitness classes in the ship’s swimming pool and learning experiences like cooking demonstrations. Get a look at the voyages here
