First Look: Regent Porto Montenegro Opens on Adriatic Coast

Looking for something sleek and boutique on the Adriatic? The Regent Porto Montenegro officially opened last week with 51 rooms and 35 suites. It's the first (and only) hotel in the Porto Montenegro super-yacht marina resort, and is Regent Hotels & Resorts’ second property in Europe.

What makes it special? We hear the hotel's design was inspired by Renaissance-era Venice, with Italian palazzo influences and nautical themes. Interior Designer Tino Zervudachi designed the hotel to evoke feeling of a luxury ship, a tribute to the hotel's location by the 250-berth super-yacht marina.

Other fun details: The guest rooms look out over Boka Bay or the mountains of Montenegro. All dining options at the hotel have seafront outdoor terraces, and use local and seasonal ingredients. Fan of the bubbly? We hear the hotel has the largest selection of fine champagnes in the Balkan region. The 21-yard outdoor pool has uninterrupted views of Boka Bay, described as Europe’s “southern-most fjord.”

The Library Bar, with a centerpiece fireplace, has a good menu of cognacs and whiskies. Earlier in the day, guests can try a signature afternoon tea and Mediterranean and Asian-inspired tapas. The open air seafront Italian Garden is surrounded by fountains and landscaped gardens, and is a good spot for sunset cocktails and special events.

For events, the Ballroom can accommodate up to 200 guests (and has top views of the marina). Looking to unwind? The Regent Spa has international and Asian inspired therapies, and guests can also relax in the indoor vitality pool, hammam, sauna and steam room.

The hotel is located in the town of Tivat and is close to the Tivat, Dubrovnik and Podgorica International airports. Good to know: Helicopter transfers are available from Dubrovnik and Podgorica, and guests will get personalized arrival experience at the Regent Porto Montenegro private helipad.

Bonus: In celebration of the opening, Regent is offering an introductory rate of $448 per night, now through December 21, on stays in either a deluxe room with a sea view or premier room with mountain view. In addition, for a limited time only, the hotel is offering a Stay 3 Pay 2 promotion with a three-night stay for the price of two nights; this offer also includes a free upgrade to a one-bedroom seaview suite.
