First Look: Streamsong Resort Set for January Debut in Central Florida

Central Florida is set to get a chic new resort early next year: Streamsong Resort is set inland on 16,000 acres and has plenty of sand dunes, lakes and wildlife to help guests unwind.

When it opens in early 2014 (reservations are currently available for mid-January), the resort’s Main Lodge will have fine dining options, a grotto-style spa, a lakeside pool and a stargazing terrace.

The guestrooms at the Lodge will all have floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the water, along with custom louvers and hardware to control light. Nice touch: In addition to a separate seating area, the rooms also have classic library novels for guests to read.

On-site activities will include bass fishing, tennis, yoga, Pilates and clay shooting.

And then there's that spa, which has seven therapeutic water treatments, including five unique pool experiences, a relaxation water treatment, and an arctic cascade. For therapies, the spa has nine treatment rooms.

Before the formal opening next year, Streamsong opened its two golf courses earlier this year, earning the title of “Best New Course” by GOLF magazine. Streamsong Red was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and Streamsong Blue was designed by Renaissance Golf Design (Tom Doak). Good to know: The property can host small intimate groups as well as those of  up to 288 players for tournaments, events and outings. (The course's staff is PGA-certified.)

Dining options will include a contemporary indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge serving American pub-style small plate dishes; a traditional three-meal restaurant serving casual Florida cuisine; a fine dining restaurant with contemporary Italian fare; and Restaurant Fifty-Nine – a steakhouse in a Clubhouse setting.

Getting there: Located between Orlando and Tampa, Streamsong has easy access to two international airports and six regional airports accommodating private aircraft. The address is 1000 Streamsong Drive, Streamsong, Florida.
