August Reopening for the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris

Summer is (finally!) sizzling in Paris, and with the beau temps, a slew of exciting hotel openings (like the highly-anticipated Peninsula). In the case of The Dorchester Collection, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée on avenue Montaigne has announced- via its website- a reopening of August 1 at 7 am. To quote General Manager François Delahaye: “Your Parisian home will welcome you back, under the summer sun, its façade adorned of its bright red geraniums, and at last unveiled, radiant, embellished. You will find the hotel’s familiar employees again, and you will see that they did not forget any of your preferences.”

The palace hotel, known as a favorite hang-out for the fashion set, closed last fall for an expansion project. Having purchased several adjacent buildings, including a townhouse at 29 avenue Montaigne and another on Clément Marot, the Dorchester Collection added six new guest rooms, eight new suites designed by Marie-José Pommereau, a ballroom and event spaces. We’re especially excited to see the makeover of the restaurants and bars.

Insiders tell us that the August date is a soft reopening, with a larger announcement expected later. August is traditionally a quiet month for Parisians in the French capital, as residents linger in the countryside or on the coast for their month-long vacances.

To celebrate the reopening, the hotel has launched the “Be the First” package, starting from €875 in a Superior Room, that includes perks like Black Rose Royal cocktails at the bar, breakfast, and a photo of your room ribbon cutting ceremony.
