Historic Liberty Hotel in Boston Joins Starwood's Luxury Brands

We've heard that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced that the owners of the Liberty Hotel in Boston have signed a license agreement for the historic property, making the Liberty the 100th property to join Starwood’s Luxury Brands: St. Regis & The Luxury Collection.

The hotel is owned by a joint venture between HEI Hotels & Resorts and Carpenter & Company, Inc., the original hotel developer and co-owner of the Liberty.

A National Historic Landmark built in 1851, The Liberty Hotel was once the storied Charles Street Jail and one of the restaurants, CLINK, features vestiges of jails cells that create ironically cozy nooks.

Sitting at the foot of Boston’s Beacon Hill and overlooking the Charles River, The Liberty Hotel features 300-rooms
resting inside the original structure’s commanding 90-foot central rotunda, soaring ceilings, exposed-brick walls, and as a nod to the past, pieces of its historic jail cells. Three floors of balconies are restored prison catwalks, and the property includes a hidden landscaped courtyard.

The Liberty Hotel also offers several restaurants including CLINK, Alibi, Scampo, and the Liberty Bar. CLINK boasts a modern American menu prepared by classically-trained chef Joseph Margate, while Scampo redefines Italian cuisine, drawing on flavors from the Mediterranean and Middle East, curated by award-winning chef Lydia Shire.

As for Alibi, guests can sip cocktails or nibble late night snacks on the outdoor patio amid original bluestone floors and brick cell walls.
