The Alcron Hotel Prague Unveils New Look for the BeBop Bar

Most of the world may be living under coronavirus travel restrictions right now, but travel dreaming is our quarantine cure. And, if Europe is on your wish list for later in the year, here’s some fun news.

Wet your whistle at a popular watering hole in Prague, newly revamped after closing for a renovation. The Alcron Hotel has an enviable location near the Czech capital’s major landmarks like Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. It’s in this scenic setting that the historic hotel—an Art Deco landmark since 1932, home to 204 guestrooms and suites—draws locals for its fine dining restaurant, bountiful brunch at La Rotonde (Czech specialties galore), cooking classes with chef Roman Paulus and rare spirits at the BeBop Bar.

Situated just off the hotel lobby, the BeBop Bar is showing off a makeover with new Art Deco furniture and decor. It’s a convivial gathering space known for its creative cocktail menu. The highlight of the makeover is the addition of a small bar hidden away beside the main bar. Accommodating just eight guests, this secret spot is called “8 Seats by Be Bop Bar” and has an enticing selection of rare champagne like Krug Clos du Mesnil 2004 and Dom Pérignon Plénitude, P2 2000. Here you’ll be able to enjoy cuisine from the Alcron Restaurant, including a special tasting menu paired with Macallan whisky cocktails.

Examples of the dishes include grilled aubergine seasoned with Ketjap manis, feta cheese and garlic puree paired with a cocktail made of Macallan 15 Years Old, peated whisky, Aperol, vermouth; and Roast pork side, plum and Sichuan pepper sauce and pickled Granny Smith apples served with a tasty tipple of Macallan 12 Years Old, nutmeg, lemon and red wine.
