Alila Fort Bishangarh Opens in Rajasthan in February

It’s been years in the making and now, after a transformative restoration, a 230-year-old fortress in India’s Rajasthan region will open as a luxury resort in February. This is the second property in India for Alila Hotels & Resorts, joining sister hotel Alila Diwa Goa, which opened in 2010.

Perched in the Aravalli hills between Delhi and Jaipur, the Alila Fort Bishangarh will only have 59 suites with 360-degree views of the distinctive Rajasthan landscape below. All turrets and thick stone fortifications, the original fort has been preserved while the new structure used traditional materials in its construction. Facilities include a pool, fitness center, Play Soldiers Club (for both teenagers and younger children), and the Spa Alila, housed in the former granite dungeon.

F&B outlets include the Amarsar specialty restaurant, the Nazara outdoor grill, the Kachhawa Lounge, and the Madhuveni bar—complete with a “cigar/cognac turret.” There is an organic garden and greenhouse to supply the kitchens.
