Alila Villas Soori, Bali

We hear that Alila Hotels and Resorts has opened Alila Villas Soori, in Bali, part of Alila’s next-generation Villas brand.

Top Draw: Undoubtedly the eight three-bedroom Pool Villas. Landscaped gardens and ponds ring the living spaces, which open onto outdoor pavilions and terraces and infinity pools framed by ocean views. There are also 15 Beach Pool Villas and 15 Ocean Pool Villas, the former at ground level while the oceanfront Pool Villas are situated above, maximizing ocean views without compromising privacy. There are also 10 residential villas. The tops? The 50,000-square-foot 10-bedroom villa. Each villa includes a private pool, direct access to the black-sand beach, butler service, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi, plasma TV, DVD player, iPods and outdoor showers.

This is Alila’s fourth resort in Bali and was careful to incorporate the Balinese landscape at every turn. We are told its location is very much off the tourist trail and is for travelers who are looking for privacy and a new experience in Bali. Note: The resort isn’t far from the island’s famous Tanah Lot Temple. Note:  Alila Villas Soori’s leisure concierge can tailor one-of-a-kind excursions and activities known as “Journeys by Alila.”

Top Table: Alila Villas Soori stresses on authentic preparation of produce from the Tabanan region, better known as the rice bowl of Bali. Cotta features continental cuisine to regional Indonesian flavors, while breakfast delicacies top the menu at L’Atelier, where oven-fresh aromas from the open bakery fill its shaded and open-air spaces. Hint: Cotta has an extensive collection of after-dinner drinks and cigars, the perfect ending to a meal. Looking to dine on the beach? Coast restaurant, just steps from the sand, revolves around an Izakaya grill open-kitchen concept, featuring grilled seafood.

Alila Villas Soori was also designed as a spa destination. Spa Alila provides unique treatments blending ancient Asian healing techniques with age-old beauty recipes that combine the curative benefits of fresh, natural, quality ingredients. Note: Spa Alilia uses local therapists trained in anatomical physiology, massage and meditation. Tip: Make sure to book a treatment that utilizes the spa’s heated terrazzo rain-shower beds.

Act Now: In celebration of its opening, the resort has launched a “Gift to Share” program, wherein guests receive a complimentary night for every night booked; in turn, guests are asked to donate from the amount saved to one of three select Balinese community projects. Luxury travel advisors should contact the resort’s UK-based sales representative, Sophie McCarthy ([email protected]; 011-44-193-222-0908), who covers both Europe and the U.S.
