Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced the opening of Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The 402-key Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam overlooks Dam Square and faces the Royal Palace. The building dates to 1856–the year that a Polish tailor, Adolph Wilhelm Krasnapolsky, first opened a coffee house on the site. As the café grew in popularity, he added rooms for rent and later built it into a hotel. The property celebrates its history with black and white images from the past exhibited throughout.

Located in the city center, the property is in the final stage of a renovation project as part of its transition to the Anantara brand. The hotel’s refurbished guestrooms and suites celebrate Dutch heritage. The 753-square-foot Presidential Suite has two bedrooms and is ideal for families or groups of friends, whilst the Royal Suite spans 1,614 square feet and offers views of Dam Square and the Royal Palace.

Dining experiences include The White Room and Grand Café Krasnapolsky restaurants, besides The Champagne Room and The Tailor bar, which pays tribute to the hotel’s founder. Breakfast is served in the inner Wintergarden with its 19th-century glass roof.

The newly added Anantara Spa features three treatment rooms and Finnish, wet and infrared sauna. Its relaxation area overlooks the newly landscaped Summer Garden. The hotel’s new gym features Technogym equipment and a rotating climbing wall to challenge guests.

The hotel also offers a range of event spaces that can accommodate up to 1,500 guests. The Wintergarden is ideal for weddings.

The hotel is located near retail experiences and the museum quarter, which includes Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Hotel staff have curated a range of immersive experiences for guests. Travelers can cruise the city’s canals whilst enjoying a romantic dinner; cycle along the waterways lined with traditional gabled canal houses; and visit museums with an expert. They can also enjoy a culinary trip, sampling apple pie, stroopwafel and bitterballen (round croquettes), or taste national cheeses paired with artisan beers from one of Amsterdam’s oldest distilleries, or explore the fishing village of Volendam. Families can enjoy scenic walks and a picnic at the Amsterdamse Bos park, go on boat tours on the lake or feed the sheep at the farm.
