Announcing the One&Only Kea Island Resort in Greece

Fans of One&Only resorts, hold onto your hats. The ultra-luxe hotel company is planning to open a resort in Greece (but don’t hold your breath, as we don’t yet have details on the exact opening date). The idyllic location? Kea island in the Cyclades archipelago. In writing of the allure of this unspoiled island—easily accessible from the Greek mainland—The Telegraph wrote in 2014, “But there is just one flaw in this fine plan for an island-hopping tour. Kea is such a seductive and peaceful place, you may not want to make it first base.” Because of its proximity to Athens, Kea is a favorite weekend getaway for chic Athenians. However, international travelers will want to make a longer stay of it.

In a recent announcement, One&Only detailed a partnership agreement between Kerzner International Holdings Limited and Dolphin Capital Partners and Dolphin Capital Investors for the development of the resort. Occupying an 160-acre stretch of beachfront property on the west side of the island, One&Only Kea Island Resort will have 75 villas along with private residences.

Speaking of the new development, Philippe Zuber, president and COO of One&Only Resorts, said, “Our goal is to introduce the finest resort in the Mediterranean and I am confident that One&Only Kéa Island will deliver on the One&Only promise.”

True to the One&Only DNA, a big emphasis will be placed on guest privacy. Guests will arrive via private luxury yacht or via an exclusive resort helicopter. Facilities will include three restaurants and two bars, a top-notch fitness center with indoor and outdoor space, and a wellness-focused spa—the official press release describes it as an “indulgent destination spa, in introducing traditional and holistic practices fused with modern spa therapies.” Last but not least: There will be a cantilevered lounge built into the cliffside as the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

This is the second European resort in the pipeline for One&Only Resorts, following the One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro.
