London’s Bankside Hotel Unveils New Summer Terrace

Art Yard Bar & Kitchen, a new all-day dining restaurant and bar in London’s Bankside Hotel, has just announced the Summer Terrace. The outdoor wine and cocktail lounge located on the hotel’s mezzanine level offers views of St. Paul’s Cathedral just across the Thames. To commemorate the opening, Summer Terrace is collaborating with Hambledon, an award-winning vineyard in Hampshire, England, and offering its full range of sparkling wines.

The menu features Hambledon’s Classic Cuvée NV, Classic Cuvée Rosé NV and Premier Cuvée—international competition-winning libations all available by the glass and bottle. Additionally, Summer Terrace’s evolving cocktail menu will include a selection of spritzes, including the classic Aperol and more creative combinations like Rose & Lychee and Jasmine. Other options include “Perfect Serves,” cocktails crafted with mixers from the London Essence Co.

Food offered includes Art Yard’s wood-fired pizzettes that are served along a selection of light bites, as well as an “Everyday is Sundae” creation that combines five scoops of ice cream, chocolate brownie chunks, fudge pieces, nuts and chocolate sauce.

Launched on May 1, Summer Terrace will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. (weather permitting). In addition, Bankside Hotel has 161 residential-style rooms, a creative space with live-work lounges, "white cube" gallery space and more.

Summer, overall, is considered a good time for foodies to check out London. One such option is a Gin Safari by bicycle, which takes you on a jaunt around London, visiting food markets and noteworthy landmarks while you quaff a selection of local gins.
