Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, manager and developer of luxury resorts, hotels, spas and galleries has announced developments and refurbishments of Banyan Tree- and Angsana-branded resorts throughout the year. Alongside the evolution of properties in Thailand, the Maldvies and Indonesia, the operator in the boutique resort, residences and spa industry will introduce a new property in China in the Banyan Tree Macau.
Double Pool Villas at Banyan Tree Phuket
In Thailand, the DoublePool Villa at Banyan Tree Phuket has 24 villas featuring 14,000 to 26,900 square feet of private land, in one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, surrounded by the property's private gardens. Upon arrival, Express Airport Service will transport guests through a private villa entrance with in-villa check-in, after which, during their stay, a Villa Host will be available around the clock. Other property features include traditional Thai ceremonies, Intimate Moments experiences for couples, a Rainmist spa treatment for two and two bicycles to tour the resort. We like the daily Flavors of Phuket spread alongside pre-dinner cocktails and departure gifts.
Angsana Laguna Phuket, Thailand
Set to reopen December 1 following a $30 renovation, Angsana Laguna Phuket (currently the Sheraton Grande Laguna) will feature the property's revamped hotel lobby, rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms and facilities, in addition to new facilities, customized for families. A sister brand of Banyan Tree, the flagship property for the Angsana brand will represent the brand's new holiday concept, angled at a new generation of individual and group travelers. Other additions include a tree house-inspired, two-story Kids Club and a Rice Bar. During your visit, nine meeting rooms and a 3,850-square-foot ballroom can accommodate your events, as perhaps may visiting the Angsana Spa and perusing the property's Gallery. The Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket will be open until June 30, 2011, after which inquiries and reservations for Angsana Laguna Phuket can be made through [email protected] or at +65 6849 5788.
Banyan Tree Macau, China
Outside of Cotai City, the Banyan Tree Macau is set to open in the second quarter of 2011, as part of the integrated resort development, Galaxy MacauT. With 246 suites overlooking the city, this five-star pool villa spa resort is worth its wait in gold. Each of the ten Pool Villas feature a Villa Host, 4,800 to 10,200 square feet of space, and private gardens, pools and air-conditioned cabans with sliding glass doors, high ceilings and ornate furnishings accentuated in vermillion red. We recommend considering the Sanctuary Pool Villas, with two bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and a spa treatment room. In the event that the villas are booked, suites range from among the Grand Cotai Suites, Grand Macau Suites or Spa Suites. Our favorite is the 7,200-square-foot, split-level Presidential Suite with two bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen and in-suite relaxation pool. At the Banyan Tree Spa, 21 treatment rooms will offer beauty, health and wellness therapies and products among 30,000 square feet. In between the resort's gallery featuring indigenous arts and crafts from community projects worldwide and the property's gymnasium, we hear the Belong Oyster Bar & Grill is exquisite. Alternately, try Banyan Café, Cabana Pool Bar and Lobby Lounge.
Angsana Velavaru, Maldives
On the untouched South Nilandhe Atoll in the Maldives, Angsana Velavaru's lagoon set against the Indian Ocean makes for an extensive selection in outdoor activities, including windsurfing, kiteboarding, Bodu Beru dancing, snorkeling and diving, alngside private island picnics, champagne sunset cruises and island-hopping to visit local markets. Attend the weekly marine talks at the resort's Marine Laboratory. Future newlyweds will want to look into the resort's Maldivian-style wedding at sunset, a wedding on a private castaway island or an underwater ceremony within the lagoon in a unique coral and shell garden. All guests can enjoy Asian-inspired treatments at the Angsana Spa, and dining options range from Italian fare at Azzuro, international and Maldividan cuisine at Kaani and fresh ocean picks at Funa. We like the the resort's bars, beach BBQs, romantic dinners on a deserted island and in-villa service.
On Bintan Island, Indonesia, the Angsana Bintan resort will debut its renovated property mid-2011. Following a major renovation executed in stages to reduce guest impact, refurbished rooms and public spaces caters to individual travelers, families and corporate groups. Settle into the white sand of Tanjong Said Bay overlooking the South China Sea or unwind at the Angsana Spa or on the green at the Greg Norman-designed Laguna Bintan Golf Course. Then, take a high-speed catamaran into Singapore, just 45 minutes away.
Other hotels scheduled to open this year, include Banyan Tree Riverside/Shanghai, Angsana Hangzhou and Angsana Balaclava/Mauritius.
