Luxury Palma: Boutique Hotel Sant Jaume Joins Design Hotels

Set in Palma de Mallorca’s Old Town, Boutique Hotel Sant Jaume, housed in a renovated 18th-century mansion, has just joined Design Hotels.

We love that the hotel is located within a “stone’s throw” of Palma Cathedral, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, Paseo Maritimo marina and many other top attractions. The concierge can help book tables at the most popular restaurants and beach clubs, private city, museum and art gallery tours, and visits to wine cellars for tastings, as well as water sports such as diving, jet skiing, kayaking or yachting. Our favorite option, if we had to pick, might be a hot air balloon ride over the island.

There are just 36 guestrooms with rainfall showers and freestanding bathtubs in the bathrooms — some rooms even have terraces with Jacuzzis. The top suite is the Suite Sant Jaume, which also has a balcony (Jacuzzi included). Amenities include a pillow menu, plasma TV, music system and a beach bag with beach towels. Bonus: The suite overlooks Palma Cathedral, offering one of the best views at the hotel.

The rooftop terrace boasts a swimming pool, solarium and an al fresco lounge, while the ground-floor wellness zone has a Finnish sauna, heated pool and gym, as well as organic beauty treatments.

Tomeu Restaurant amb Arrels, led by Michelin-starred chef Tomeu Caldentey, serves dishes that put a modern spin on traditional Mallorcan cuisine. Tip: Try the Mallorcan black suckling pig with grouper. The restaurant is complemented by the Bartomeu Macerados & Co. cocktail bar, which has one of the island’s top vermouth collections. Contact Marketing and Sales Manager Carlo Vásquez Martinez ([email protected]).
