Casa di Langa, a Sustainable Boutique Hotel, to Debut in Piedmont in Spring 2021

Casa di Langa, a new sustainable luxury hotel, will open in spring 2021 in the heart of Italy’s Piedmont region. Overlooking 100-plus acres of working vineyards and hills, the 39-room hotel combines traditional Piedmontese design with sustainable practices. Guests can expect a commitment to carbon neutrality, the use of 100 percent recycled water for irrigation, geothermal heating throughout, zero single-use plastic, PV cells and solar panels.

The two Milan-based design teams—GaS Studio overseeing the architecture and Parisotto + Formenton Architetti (P+F) heading up the interior design—bring extensive experience in luxury residential, designer retail and hospitality projects, including the design of the five-star Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa & Golf Resort. Installed throughout the property and grounds, the fine art collection at Casa di Langa highlights notable Italian and American artists. And, as for the accommodations, each has a spacious private terrace, relaxation area and a spa-like bathroom with rain showers and Le Labo toiletries.

While at Casa di Langa, guests can cruise through historic vineyards on a Vespa or take in an evening of live music under the stars. Other curated experiences include:

  • Hands-on cooking classes combined with a visit to the sustainable vegetable garden and greenhouse
  • A wine academy where guests can enjoy tastings and a wine school to get WSET certified
  • Truffle hunting where expert truffle hunters and their Lagotto dogs (an Italian breed known for their truffle finding abilities) will guide you on an exciting journey to discover both black and white truffles
  • Art tours around Casa di Langa’s sculpture garden and the grounds original artwork collection

At Casa Di Langa’s fine dining establishment, Fàula Ristorante, each dish is based on the local harvest. The menu, designed by chef Manuel Bouchard, will focus on traditional cuisine and “innovative creations” utilizing ingredients sourced from the hotel’s gardens and local producers. Born in Turin, Italy, the 32-year-old chef has worked at five Michelin Starred restaurants throughout Northern Italy all before the age of 25. He returned to the Langhe region in 2014 to open Michelin Plate Antinè in Barbaresco. At Sorì Cocktail Bar, guests can indulge in wines from around the world and neighboring vineyards, including bottles from its sister wineries, Vietti and Enrico Serafino.

The hotel’s ecologically minded spa, Lelòse Spa, utilizes natural techniques and ingredients with sustainable practices and products from Comfort Zone, a certified B Corporation. Guests can partake in spa experiences, such as the Tranquility Ritual or Sacred Nature, enjoy time in the heated infinity pool or use the state-of-the-art fitness equipment in the gym.

About the area: Piedmont offers travelers an authentic Italian experience just one-and-a-half hours from Milan and without the crowds of popular destinations like Tuscany. Nearby, you can find two top winemakers, Barolo and Barbaresco. Piedmont is also home to 45 Michelin Star restaurants and is ranked No. 2 in all of Italy. Other well-known Italian brands, such as Nutella, Fiat and Lavazza, make Piedmont their home.
