Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina Set to Reopen for 2021-22 Winter Season

Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina, located in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, is set to reopen for the 2021-22 winter season. The landmark property is ready to resume business with new owner, Italian fund manager Quinta Capital Sgr, which acquired the 132-room hotel and its sister property, Savoia Palace with 44 residences. The recent acquisition comes as the popular alpine destination prepares to play host, together with Milan, to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in winter 2026.

The strategic vision of the newly created fund is to focus on major investments in the hospitality sector and the recent 70 million euro (approximately $79 million) transaction offers a prominent backing for the mountainside destination, in anticipation of the arrival of the world’s major multi-sport athletic competition. Grand Hotel Savoia and Savoia Palace will undergo a planned repositioning and rebranding in line with the fund’s strategic objectives. In addition, the destination is well-positioned to attract a new generation of visitors, thanks to the arrival of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games—besides a mature and high-end clientele.

The hotel will reopen in full operation on December 3, 2021 for the 2021-22 winter season with Rosanna Conti, who will continue in her role as general manager. A native of the area, Conti has expertly guided both properties for over a decade and knows the destination inside and out.

Built in 1912 in Art Nouveau style, the property will offer guests a variety of rooms and suites, besides a range of premium services. The epicenter of the iconic town’s cultural and artistic heritage, the hotel’s remarkable history includes distinguished guests, celebrities, statesmen and leaders such as Leo Tolstoy, Sophia Loren, Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

The hotel offers three culinary concepts: Ristorante Savoy, 1224 Bar Lounge & Terrace and the Sports Bar. Guests can relax in the intimate Savoia Spa, which has Comfort Zone treatments, including restorative and energizing massages, as well as Comfort Zone products. A fitness area featuring Technogym equipment and an indoor heated pool is also available for guests.

Savoia Palace offers 44 open-plan apartments with spacious interiors inspired by traditional mountain chalets. The large suites and apartments are characterized by a welcoming environment with comfortable bright living spaces, and are ideal for families and groups of friends.

Both properties underwent an extensive $10 million refurbishment over a span of two years. The renovation project concluded in 2020.
