InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Launches “Wellness Journeys”

InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has introduced a range of “Wellness Journeys” for 2023. With an ever-changing program of visiting practitioners, the resort’s wellness menu caters to diverse guest preferences and needs with customized offerings.

For this year’s festive season at Maamunagau and the beginning of 2023, seven “Wellness Journeys” are on offer. Guests can choose from a range of programs including “De-Stress,” “Sleep Well,” “Detox,” “Metabolism Booster” and “Sports Athletes.” They can choose their pace and individualize their journeys suited to their needs and focus points.

Starting from December 18, 2022 until early 2023, Joao Santos and Rajeshwari Amol Nerukar will be onsite to extend their practices to resort guests. Santos will focus on body treatments and he will also be treating guests who choose to book the “Metabolism Booster” or “Sports Athletes” program. Together with resident fitness trainer Rohit Vijay Tandel, they will take on guests who look for physical optimization, body recovery and mindful grounding. Nerukar, focusing on the art of healing, will help guests heal their emotional trauma and distress. Together with Sunitha Narayana, the resident yoga teacher, she offers wellness journeys that focus on de-stressing and promoting better sleep, through a combination of yoga, ayurveda, sound healing and breathwork.

Picking up on the crystal theme at AVI Spa, visiting practitioner Kanlayanee Marrthuean “Jang” will be onsite from March 1 to April 30, 2023 for the “Crystal Wellness” program that includes gemstone facials, chakra balancing, reiki, crystal sound healing and crystal foot reflexology. Marrthuean will be joined by Sunitha Narayana during the programs. Marrthuean will also offer additional emotional release treatments that embrace the full body. The AVI Spa team has also put together an “Anti-Ageing” program. The customizable journey is available throughout the year.

According to Narayana, “A wellness journey is perceived differently by each individual and while us, the wellness practitioners, can give suggestions and guidance, every guest needs to have the space to find their own way to mindfulness and wellbeing. Here at Maamunagau’s AVI Spa, we love to incorporate crystal and sound bowl healing in our treatments. This is of course not for everyone, but I love to introduce my guests to those alternative wellness techniques and be part of their journey to explore their body and mind. I am very excited to bring all our synergies together to curate unforgettable and beneficial wellness journeys for our guests and to accompany them on their path to wellness.”

Sitting on the Southernmost tip of Raa Atoll, on the edge of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and within its own natural lagoon, the resort has 81 beach, lagoon and over-water villas and residences, as well as six restaurants and bars. It leads the way for manta ray research and has its own sustainable waste initiatives and recycling programs.
