Kamalame Cay Announces Two New Luxury Cottages

Kamalame Cay, a Bahamas resort, is offering two new luxurious cottages, adding on to the Caribbean retreat’s previous 28 luxurious bougainvillea-draped seaside villas, cottages, bungalows and suites, bringing the total number of rooms on the island to 40.

Good to know: Kamalame Cay is considered a top romantic destination in the Caribbean. In fact, the resort was founded by newlyweds in the 1970s.

Rock House

This one-bedroom cottage, originally built for Chase Bank’s David Rockefeller, offers 1,200 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space. Adorned in bougainvillea and encompassed by coconut palms, it is designed with a coastal palette of whitewashed wood and natural accents.

An elevated floor plan offers views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Blanket Sound mangroves. Amenities include 16-foot ceilings, a full kitchen, a sleeping nook for additional guests and a powder room. The master bath features a deep, freestanding tub and opens onto an outdoor shower, while the furnished verandah is equipped with a two-level plunge pool.

Hummingbird

Kamalame’s second new villa, Hummingbird, is nearly three times the size of the Rock House, featuring a 3,200 square foot indoor/outdoor floor plan, though it has a similar, whitewashed coastal palette. Amenities include a living room, a full, modern kitchen that opens onto a furnished terrace equipped with a grill, and al fresco dining and lounge areas. Hummingbird welcomes up to six guests across three bedrooms and a loft, with all three bedrooms featuring outdoor and indoor showers and two bathrooms equipped with soaker tubs.
