Kempinski to Open Hilltop Hideaway in Bali in 2027

Kempinski Hotels has announced the latest addition to its Southeast Asian portfolio after signing a management agreement for a hilltop hideaway in Bali. Located close to the rice terraces and coffee plantations of Tegalalang village, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud is the latest hospitality project from Indonesian real estate developer PT. Panorama Indah Dewata. It is slated to open in 2027 and will complement the brand's existing beachfront hotel in Nusa Dua.

The Apurva Kempinski Ubud will be located on a south-facing ridge overlooking an expanse of green in central Bali. Like its sister property in Nusa Dua (The Apurva Kempinski Bali), the hotel’s interior design will be led by Rudy Dodo of Jakarta-based studio Trivium Design Group, which is also responsible for the architectural design of this project. The 160 rooms and villas will "cascade" down the jungle-covered slopes around an open-sided lobby lounge. Accommodations include rooms and suites starting from 646 square feet, Cliff Villas with outdoor decks and private pools, and six Villas spanning 2,153 square feet.

Guests will enjoy views from an infinity pool, while a rooftop lounge and bar provide sunset views over the jungle. Culinary delights await at the resort’s specialty restaurant, where panoramic vistas complement the diversity of Indonesian cuisine. The resort will also be home to a Balinese spa, located at the end of the ridge overlooking the valley beyond. At the heart of the resort, a tropical aviary will provide sanctuary for exotic birdlife from Indonesia and beyond, including the critically endangered Bali mynah, also known as the jalak.

Beyond, the upcoming hotel and The Apurva Kempinski Bali, which opened in 2019, Kempinski and the developer have signed a third management agreement. Announced last year, The Apurva Kempinski Lombok in Indonesia will also open in 2027.
