Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort, which opened in July 2023, has unveiled its collection of distinctive Kauhale (suites): Ocean Front Four Bedroom Maheawalu Kauhale, Ocean Front Accessible Four Bedroom Kumukea Kauhale and 'Ohana Pool Four Bedroom Kauhale. Each of them offers an array of amenities and access to local experiences.
Sharing a name with the Hawaiian word for “group of houses,” these accommodations are either set in the lush grounds of the resort or steps away from the shoreline. All six of the signature Kauhale were developed around the strong focal points of its ocean views or welcoming communal spaces. The collection of suites offer three distinctive layouts and design patterns, but each has personalized touches.
The Ocean Front Four-Bedroom Maheawalu Kauhale, located on the resort’s Maheawalu Point, has unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and totals 8,500 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor lanai space. This signature residence offers three king beds, two queen beds, an indoor living and dining room, a full chef’s kitchen, four-and-a-half bathrooms, an outdoor bathtub and rain shower, a private ocean front pool, and an outdoor dining area.
Situated on the northernmost point of the resort, The Ocean Front Four-Bedroom Kumukea Kauhale has the same layout as the Maheawalu Kauhale, but with mobility-accessible features. Both ocean-front four-bedroom accommodations are blends of signature heritage and modern design. While guests have the option to enjoy the plethora of Kona Village’s vast offerings, each Kauhale has a private pool, hot tub and fire pit all set against the backdrop of coastal cliffs.
The ‘Ohana Pool Four Bedroom Kauhale encompasses 6,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor lanai space with a private pool and houses two king beds, four queen beds and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Named for the Hawaiian term meaning family, this suite is set back into the greenery of the resort.
Good to know: Each Kauhale is attended to by its dedicated butler who oversees and anticipates the guest’s every need. The signature suites also come complete with complimentary round-trip airport transfers for registered guests, as well as their choice of a tailor-made experience with Kona Village’s Kilo Kai (ocean adventures) or Cultural Center. Every Kauhale stay also comes with the choice of one 60-minute Asaya Spa service for two adults. The Maheawalu Kauhale includes all meals enjoyed in-suite and the Kumukea and ‘Ohana Kauhale include one chef-curated dinner in-suite.
