To celebrate the release of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, starring Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and Sir Kenneth Branagh, Manetta’s Bar at Flemings Mayfair hotel, which was redesigned as part of a $20 million complete renovation, has debuted new cocktails honoring the film and Agathe Christie, who used to frequent the bar decades earlier.
Guests can make like the stars and enjoy plush while admiring portraits of Gertrude Stein and Agatha Christie with a drink in hand. The new drinks are:
L’oriental
- 50 ml Calvados
- 25 ml Dubonet
- 25 ml Lillet Blanc 25ml
Method: Add all the ingredient to a cocktails shaker, fill with ice and gently shake, strain into a chilled coupe
Garnish: A couple of Turkish delight, flemings tape bowtie and redcurrant on the rim
Cote D’azur
- 40 ml Grey goose L’orange
- 35 ml violet liqueur
- 20 ml fresh lemon juice
- 10 ml blue almond syrup
Method: Fill the glass with crushed ice, add four dashes of saffron and let it rest for a bit Add all the ingredient in a mono portion three piece continental shaker, gently shake
Serve with the small shaker on top of the crushed ice to keep the temperature
Garnish: Four blueberries dipped in simple syrup and edible gold glitters
Etoile du Nord
- 45ml Remy Martin VSOP cognac
- 20ml White chocolate liqueur
- 25 ml Cream sherry
- 3 dashes Chocolate bitters
- Himalayan goji berry
Method: Add all the ingredients in chilled Japanese mixing glass, fill it with ice, stir

- 45ml Belvenie 12 year
- 4 dashes Orange bitters
- Applewood
Method: Fill the bottle with Applewood smoke, add the orange bitter with an orange peel, fill it with ice, add all the ingredients, stir, pour the drink over smoke in the bottle and let it rest as long as you desire
