LUX* Belle Mare in Mauritius will reopen October 1, 2023 following extensive renovations that have lasted over a year. The refreshed interiors have been conceived by Mauritian designer Jean-Marc Tang; the 174 suites and 12 villas all have a minimalist and modern design. Thoughtful touches include tables cast in reclaimed local sand, custom print wallpaper as a homage to the coral reefs, and seating in whitewashed wood with nautical rope details woven by local artisans.
Guests can head to Beach Rouge—LUX* Resorts’ signature beach club concept—serving Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner, with DJ sets and performances in the evenings; signature Indian restaurant Amari by Michelin-starred Chef Vineet Bhatia; Duck Laundry offering Chinese cuisine; and all-day-dining restaurant Mondo, offering international cuisines with a dedicated kids buffet alongside live stations. For a quick lunch or afternoon snack, guests can head to Royce Street, where a vintage 1933 Hooper Limousine Rolls Royce will serve Southeast Asian cuisine. Guests can also try the “Keen on Green” concept, an offering of plant-based, vegan and locally sourced dishes on every menu.
Each journey at LUX* ME Wellbeing and LUX* ME Spa will be tailored to individual needs combining mindfulness activities, relaxing treatments and breath workshops. With a core focus on rebalancing, signature movements and treatments will incorporate table stretch, suspension training, aerial massage and yoga as well as aqua therapies and fitness. The fitness center will offer Universe, Technogym’s newest modular functional strength system. Guests can digitally access several exercise possibilities, resistance and training content.
LUX* Belle Mare will reopen with a range of conservation activities for guests, from learning about marine life conservation with Eco-Sud, an NGO specializing in marine biodiversity, to rare endemic plants propagation at Ile Aux Aigrettes with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. The resort will return with its own farm, supplying pesticide-free vegetables, herbs and leafy greens. Initiatives also include embracing the Pledge on Food Waste Certification, investing in energy, water efficiency to reduce waste through circular design, and more. Sustainability audits will be conducted by Positive Luxury, with a publicly available dashboard on its performance in environment, social, good governance and innovation.
