Mallorca’s Cap Rocat to Open New Spa

One of the prettiest hotels on the Spanish Mediterranean isle of Mallorca is about to show off a brand new spa for the summer season. Cap Rocat—housed inside a former 19th century military fortress—is perched on a clifftop overlooking the bay of Palma de Mallorca. Carved from the limestone, the spa was designed by Antonio Obrador, the hotel’s owner and original designer, who incorporated fine woods and local fabrics in the decoration.

Slated to debut on May 1, it’s billed as “Mallorca’s most spectacular new spa in 2017.” The highlight is the sunken saltwater swimming pool, measuring 25 meters, illuminated via a glass ceiling. (Top tip: Swimming at night under a canopy of stars!)

There will be five treatment rooms, with a wellness focus on restoring each guest’s natural balance. Treatments showcase local ingredients, like Mallorca’s famous citrus fruit, almonds, and olive oil, which have been blended into a range of fine house products for the hotel. Keen to try the signature? Go for the Cap Rocat Body Peel, a revitalizing treatment with quince, coconut oil and papaya, or the Aloe Vera Facial, especially important after sun exposure. Post treatment, guests can unwind on large day beds in the relaxation area next to the pool.

Cap Rocat made a splash when it opened in 2010 with only 29 suites. Other in-house distractions include the swimming pool built into the fortress ramparts, The Sea Club serving fresh grilled seafood, and a bar serving up craft cocktails paired with live music.
