The St. Regis to Open Hotel on Australia's Gold Coast

Marriott International has announced it has signed a management agreement with property development company GURNER to bring The St. Regis brand to Australia’s Gold Coast. The signing of The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort will bring the brand’s signature butler service and rituals to the destination in 2027, making it the first St. Regis' property in the country.

The hotel is set to be part of the first tower in the $1.7 billion La Pelago project, a lifestyle resort and destination within the Budds Beach area. La Pelago will have 129,167 square feet of amenities, including luxury residences, The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort, and over 59,201 square feet of international hospitality and retail, encompassed in a private landscaped setting.

The new-build resort is expected to have about 185 guestrooms and suites offering ocean and hinterland views. Plans include for an expansive porte cochere, a specialty restaurant, a sky bar, pool bar, lounge and spa, besides a penthouse collection and signature St. Regis Bar. The city’s popular attractions and landmarks, including international designer shopping, a range of dining options, late-night entertainment, rooftop bars and cafés, and vast stretches of white sand beaches are all within easy reach from the hotel.

The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort expects to mark the fourth Marriott International property on the Gold Coast when it opens, adding to the company’s existing Queensland portfolio: JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Gold Coast, W Brisbane, Brisbane Marriott Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane, The Westin Brisbane, Courtyard by Marriott South Bank Brisbane and The Ritz-Carlton, Gold Coast, which is expected to open in 2026. Marriott International currently operates 39 hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, with 26 hotels in Australia.

Previously, The St. Regis announced plans for a hotel in Melbourne that would include 168 rooms and suites, all of which would offer views of the Yarra River or city skyline. That project is no longer proceeding as per the developer’s decision. A spokesperson for The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort told Luxury Travel Advisor, "Marriott International is excited to have found a home for The St. Regis brand in Australia. We have been looking for a suitable partner and location for a number of years and we are thrilled to finally make it happen on the Gold Coast."
