Marriott to Open First Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Portland

Marriott International, Inc. is collaborating with developer BPM Real Estate Group to bring its Ritz-Carlton brand to Portland and the Pacific Northwest for the first time.

Under the new agreement, the brand would manage 251 hotel rooms and 138 residential units – including eight penthouses – within a nearly $600 million, 35-story tower. Construction is expected to begin in 2019. The property is slated to open in in early 2023.

The hotel and residences will be situated in BPM’s planned mixed-use tower: a site with high-end office space, retail space and a ground-level food hall. Guests will be just a few blocks from Pioneer Courthouse Square, a highly frequented tourist destination in Oregon, and the shopping destination Pioneer Place. It is also within walking distance of Portland’s central business district and the Pearl District.

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, once open, will have exclusive entrances for hotel guests and residence owners. Amenities planned for the new property include:

  • Fitness center
  • Full-service spa and swimming pool on the 19th floor.
  • Food hall on the ground floor
  • Indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar on the 20th floor.
  • More than 13,000 square feet of meeting space for business events and special celebrations.

Owners will have dedicated amenities such as an 8th floor owner’s lounge and fitness facility, along with wrap-around views of Portland’s downtown skyline on one side and the Cascade Mountain Range and Willamette River on the other.

In other Marriott International news, Autograph Collection Hotels is planning to add 16 properties to its global portfolio across North America, Europe and Africa towards the end of July. Currently, the portfolio has over 170 independent hotels and resorts around the globe.
