New Eats at Gurney's Resorts

Luxury hotelier, Gurney’s Resorts, is rolling out new menu launches at two of its waterfront properties. Beginning August 1, Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina will host a month-long Sushi on Jones pop-up at The Lounge & Firepit, the resort’s outdoor bar and restaurant, while Gurney’s Star Island Resort & Marina is introducing a new partnership with artisanal ice cream company, Van Leeuwen.

Gurney’s Newport x Sushi on Jones

For its first-ever hotel residency, Sushi on Jones will offer visitors and locals alike traditional omakase, an a la carte menu featuring nigiri, temaki and maki, as well as a late-night handroll menu. The Sushi on Jones menu will be offered from Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m., joining The Lounge & Firepit’s menu of daily New England fare.

To celebrate the resort’s New England location, the team has put a twist on the traditional Lobster Roll with the creation of a limited time “Gurney’s Roll.” The custom sushi roll includes poached local lobster topped with truffled yuzu kimizu, radish sprouts and Kaluga caviar.

Gurney’s Star Island x Van Leeuwen

Serving its classic and vegan scoops, along with a signature Gurney’s flavor, the collaboration marks Gurney’s Star Island and Van Leeuwen’s first brick and mortar hotel store.

Available as of July, the bespoke flavor, named “Weekend at Gurney’s,” features all the makings of a s’more (with a twist): The Van Leeuwen’s custom creation for Gurney’s Resorts is a decked out peanut butter base with marshmallow bits, chocolate fudge swirl and a house-made graham cracker crumble. “Weekend at Gurney’s,” along with all other Van Leeuwen classic and vegan ice creams, are made from scratch using a handful of fresh ingredients in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is also available to guests of The Beach Club at Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa through a custom Van Leeuwen ice cream cart. Additionally, guests of Gurney’s can enjoy Van Leeuwen pints at Il Forno market at Gurney’s Star Island and Van Leeuwen room service is available at both resorts. Alternatively, the scoop shop will offer sundaes, milkshakes, house made waffle cones and more.
