New in Normandy: Hotel Saint-Delis Opens in Honfleur

A must-see destination in Normandy is the picturesque port of Honfleur. Just east of the D-Day landing beaches, a two-hour drive from Paris, Honfleur has drawn generations of artists to admire the centuries-old, timbered houses lining the old port, from where French explorers once set sail to the four corners of the world. This pretty village has some lovely museums and attractions, alongside charming accommodations.

New on the scene is the Hotel Saint-Delis, a just-opened luxury boutique hotel with nine stylish rooms and suites. This address is the newest in the La Collection Saint-Siméon, which also comprises the Ferme Saint Siméon, a member of Relais & Châteaux, and the Auberge de la Source, a charming hotel that opened in January 2020.

In the heart of the heritage-protected village, the new hotel is named for the artist Henri de Saint-Delis, who lived here for the last years of his life. Hotel Saint-Delis is in fact comprised of three historic houses spanning the 17th to 19th centuries; the one from the 18th century boasts an original half-timbered and stone facade.

Offering splendid views over the rooftops of Honfleur, the rooms are decorated in an elegant, contemporary style. The stand-out room is the historic chamber of the painter himself, accessed via an original spiral staircase. Rooms are kitted out with hammam showers and whirlpools in the bathrooms and tablets to provide guests with the best local information, one-touch restaurant reservations at la Ferme Saint Siméon, room service, Netflix and more. Nice touch: The fully stocked mini bars are complimentary, to create the feeling that clients are guests in the painter’s house.
