New Private Residences at Birkenhead House Unveiled

The Royal Portfolio, a collection of luxury hotels, resorts and lodges in South Africa, has unveiled three new, contemporary Private Residences at Birkenhead House overlooking the coastline of Hermanus.

About two hours driving from Cape Town (to the southeast), Birkenhead House’s Private Residences—named Fernkloof, Kliphuis and White House—each have five or six en-suite bedrooms, providing a spacious getaway for large families or friends traveling together, combining the freedom, privacy and conveniences of one’s own seaside residence with the service and amenities of Birkenhead House. Guests staying in the villas can expect open-plan kitchens and considerable living and dining spaces. Good to know: The accommodations also come equipped with an in-house staff of experienced butlers, chefs and housekeepers.

Each property offers such amenities as outdoor showers, entertainment rooms, fire pits and swimming pools. As an extra perk, guests have unlimited access to Birkenhead House’s dining and spa facilities. These villas are close to key attractions in Hermanus, such as the Hermanus Cliff Walk, Fernkloof Nature Reserve, Voëlklip Beach and Hermanus Golf Course.

The Royal Portfolio’s reservations team can assist in booking guests’ stays in the Private Residences, as well as curating excursions for all interests in and around the town, ranging from wine experiences to aerial whale watching and culinary tours. Other popular experiences include shark cage diving, golf, horse riding on the beach, hiking, surfing, mussel picking and wine tasting (the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is just a short drive away and is one of South Africa’s premier wine routes).
