Now Open: Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

The resort marks the first Mexican property for the lifestyle brand, and to celebrate, Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is offering guests a complimentary third night, plus breakfast, when booking a three or more night stay by February 15, 2017, with travel dates between January 6 and April 8, 2017.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced earlier the official opening of the hotel in the eco-destination Mayakoba. The oceanfront property hopes to create a new way to experience the locale. Offering guests 214 open layout guestrooms and suites that overlook the Caribbean coastline, the accommodations at the new property are naturally inspired, each offering spacious balcony or terrace. 41 of the resort’s luxury suites also feature private plunge pools. Each room contains an ‘area rug’ designed using a collection of locally produced Mexican cement tiles and includes a signature Mayan décor item, like a traditional mask, Mayan huipil or bird figure. Pro Tip: Unique to this hotel is the bathroom design; bathrooms within the hotel span the entire length of the guestroom, allowing natural light and views to filter into both the bathroom and sleeping areas.

An on-property Experience Curator has developed an Andaz ethos that reflects local touches, activities and events throughout the resort experience. The resort has teamed up with a series of Cultural Insiders, including Senoke, a Riviera Maya graffiti artist who made vibrant murals visible throughout the resort. Sol Tamargo, a local photographer, has been enlisted to offer photo and video shoots to Andaz Mayakoba guests in unique settings throughout the property. In terms of activities, guests won’t want to miss the opportunity to learn the Spanish language or preparing tacos in a Tacology class.

The resort offers four diverse restaurant concepts: Cocina Milagro, the resort’s poolside open kitchen restaurant in the heart of the resort; Casa Amate, open exclusively for dinner featuring Latin American cuisine; OllaTaco and OllaCeviche, which are both poolside, beachfront restaurants offering live entertainment and ocean views.

Guests can relax in the resorts 10,000-square-foot Naum Spa, which includes six treatment rooms and a complete menu of services. The “treatment cabins”  are airy and open to their surroundings, well-suited for relaxation and recharging. Naum Rituals (the name for the spa treatments) are designed to help guests pay homage to themselves and the Mayan Gods. Each ritual includes a Mayan Time of Reflection (the treatment itself) and a Mayan Celebration to help guests balance and reconnect with the universe.

For the business traveler, the resort offers 14,000 feet of flexible meeting and event space, located at the center of the property. With five Andaz Studios designed for meetings and events, and a 6,000-square-foot Balam ballroom, there are plenty of options for business and leisure group gatherings.
