File this under 2020’s most hotly anticipated resorts. One&Only will arrive in Europe for the first time with a seafront resort on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro. Slated to debut on July 1, 2020, One&Only Portonovi is situated at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, its crystal-clear waters flanked by mountains in the country’s southwest. The scenery is majestic, punctuated by fortresses, medieval villages, UNESCO World Heritage sites and hidden beaches. Reflecting the region’s Venetian architectural style, Portonovi has a helipad and yacht marina with 238 berths.
Expect the gardens and pools that conjure the Mediterranean dolce vita. But One&Only Portonovi will take it up a notch with its cuisine. Sabia restaurant will offer a menu by Giorgio Locatelli, the London-based Michelin-starred chef who’s considered one of the finest Italian chefs in the world, while the Tapasake Club will serve tapas and saké while international DJs spin the soundtrack. Or choose local fare at La Veranda.
And then there’s the exclusive partnership with Henri Chenot, the detox specialist who has pioneered a number of innovative health and wellness programs. The Chenot Espace Health Wellness Spa will tailor individual programs for guests with nutritional advice, detoxification menus, fitness classes and targeted spa treatments.
All accommodations and villas will afford magnificent views through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. In the 113 guestrooms, expect fireplaces for cooler nights, bathrooms the same size as the rooms and terraces for ogling the vistas. The One&Only Portonovi Suite One, a presidential suite, gets a special shout out for its private wine cellar which guests can customize with their personal choices.
From this swanky launch pad, guests will be able to explore the One&Only Portonovi’s privileged setting with an array of recreational activities. Cruise the coastline, sail to the the islands, go scuba diving in the bay. But the onsite attractions—tennis, kids club, swimming pools, yoga classes—may make it difficult to leave.
