Regent Hotels Continues Resurgence

Since its acquisition by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2018, Regent Hotels & Resorts has been enjoying a major resurgence. Currently operating nine hotels in Europe and Asia, a further 10 are slated to open in the coming years. Most notably, properties are set to debut in Hong Kong, Bali, Shanghai and Santa Monica, CA, by the end of 2023.

Already this year the Regent has relaunched a property in Cannes. The grand dame of Cannes’ hotel scene, the Carlton Cannes, A Regent Hotel, saw its Belle Epoque façade restored, while other results of the two-year renovation included the addition of two new wings, home to luxury residences, creating an enclosed garden with sunbathing decks, cabanas and the largest infinity pool at a hotel in Cannes. In addition, the hotel also has a brand-new 9,600-square-foot spa and fitness complex, with a full-size boxing ring and yoga and Pilates studio.

On the horizon: Set on Victoria Harbor, Regent Hong Kong also underwent a two-year renovation. Guestrooms have a minimalistic look, while select harbor-view rooms offer a windowfront daybed, “moongate” entrances to the bathroom and freestanding tubs. The hotel is slated to open in June. Good to know: The two Michelin star Yan Toh Heen, has also made a return. Back to its original name from when it first opened in 1984, Lai Ching Heen (meaning “Regent Scenic Pavilion” in Cantonese), the restaurant serves exquisite Cantonese dishes that blend tradition with modern flair.

Santa Monica will be the first location for the luxe hotel brand in the Americas. Set to open in late 2023, Regent Santa Monica Beach is set a short distance from the Santa Monica Pier. Following a complete transformation, the resort will have a beachfront pool deck with multiple pools as well as a destination spa and wellness center. Guests can also expect a celebrity chef-run restaurant and a high-end artisanal marketplace.

The brand’s second Shanghai hotel, Regent Shanghai on The Bund, will also open its doors in the second half of this year, blending classic historical and artistic value with unique new luxury travel experiences. There will be 130 rooms and public spaces making use of the riverside landscape. This will be followed by the opening of Regent Bali Canggu later in 2023.
