The Ritz-Carlton Maui Set to Reveal $100 Million Reno

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua has announced the final phase of a $100 million resort-wide transformation set to be unveiled by the end of 2022. The resort is situated across 54 acres of open space overlooking Honokahua Bay.

Beyond the revamped lobby lanai, offering unobstructed views of Honokahua Bay and has multiple seating areas, the resort will open The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge at the Anuenue Room in July. The space will host a dedicated concierge and a relaxed environment where guests can enjoy breakfast, light snacks, hors d’oeuvres, beverages and sweets. Exclusive to club guests, Club Lounge programming will include cocktail classes, cooking demonstrations, lei making and musical performances by Hawaiian artists.

The new guestrooms, suites and residences—all with private terraces—will have sand tones, custom wood finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows. In November, the resort will debut a new room category: The Fire Lanai Collection. Located on the ground floor of the Nāpili Tower, each room will have extended lanais with a shade trellis, a hammock, sun deck and fire pit, complete with a special menu.

The centerpiece of the resort is the new pool experience. Inspired by a rock formation in front of the resort at Makaluapuna Point, the resort’s three zero-edge pools, connected by waterfalls, form a fleur-de-lis. Each pool has in-water lounges besides ample seating options around. In addition, the resort recently unveiled seven luxury cabanas and oasis beds. The new cabanas, offering seating for up to eight guests, include access to a cabana attendant, as well as a tropical fruit plate, sunscreen, unlimited water and soft drinks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speaker, flat-screen TV, credenza with refrigerator, ceiling fan and robes.

As part of the extensive transformation, the resort has redesigned Ulana Terrace, the breakfast restaurant overlooking the gardens, pool and ocean. It offers a breakfast buffet showcasing traditional and local favorites. In the morning, guests can also enjoy a quick bite from Kai Café, the resort’s gourmet coffee shop.

In the evenings, the lobby lanai and Alaloa Lounge offers live entertainment, including the Hawaiian sunset ceremony. Guests can enjoy cocktails and light fare, besides a dedicated sushi bar. Just steps away from the pools, the new ’Olu Café is the ideal alfresco lunch destination, featuring hand-crafted cocktails, pūpū, salads and sandwiches. Orders can also be delivered to guests poolside in their cabana or lounge chair.

When completed next year, new solar canopies in the parking lot will generate half of the resort’s current demand for power. Other initiatives include reducing water consumption, new waste diversion efforts, complimentary reusable water bottles for guests, installing filling stations throughout the property and replacing all elevators with more energy-efficient models.

The resort offers eco-tours for all ages, including snorkeling, coastal walks and e-bike tours. A weekly volunteer project offers guests an opportunity to participate in a beach cleanup or removal of invasive species.

The hotel has transformed the Aloha Garden Pavilion, which features a new interior with AV technology, furniture, bi-folding glass doors opening onto a garden, two fire pits and new trellis with glass canopies.
