The Ritz-Carlton, St. Lucia to Open in 2021

In 2021, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company plans to open up a new location on the eastern Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia.

This development comes as the hotel company recently signed a management agreement with Range Developments, an investment and hospitality company that operates across the eastern Caribbean.

This agreement marks the first Ritz-Carlton property in the eastern Caribbean. It will have 180 rooms and will be located on the southwest coast, near the Pitons. There will be ample meeting and group space both indoors and outdoors, multiple dining facilities all with outdoor seating, a spa that includes an outdoor treatment area, and several swimming pools (Note: one will be designated as a “quiet relaxation area only for adults,” according to a written release).

The hotel will be situated nearby to Hewanorra International Airport, which has seen “increased airlift catering to luxury travelers in recent years,” according to the hotel. The hotel is expected to create about 500 jobs on the island during construction, along with a similar amount once the hotel is officially open and operational.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Allen Chastanet, as well as other members of the cabinet, joined those from Range Developments and The Ritz-Carlton in commemorating the signing of their agreement to build the new island location. Chastanet noted that this agreement is a "historic and significant event in the continuing development of tourism on the island,” the press release said.

Chastanet added that the cabinet has continued to focus on the enhancement of tourism offerings on Saint Lucia and that they are “committed to ensuring sustainable investment and employment” on the island, particularly in the south. In the written release, The Ritz-Carlton president and chief operating officer Hervé Humler said that the brand is “delighted” about the construction of a new property on Saint Lucia.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Lucia is the “anchor of a larger development project” led by Range Developments called the “Black Bay Master Development,” that is set on a total of 180 acres and will be developed under the country’s Citizenship-by-Investment program.
