Rosewood Puebla Opens May 18 in Mexico

Let the countdown begin. Hotel Rosewood Puebla is just days away from opening in the UNESCO World Heritage listed historic center of Puebla, one of Mexico’s most vibrant colonial cities and a veritable culinary capital. This is one of the most highly anticipated hotel openings of the year. A January Bloomberg article noted that “Mexico is experiencing a boom in luxury tourism that has made it an appealing destination for travelers from America and beyond.” The new Rosewood hotel is the “first luxury hospitality venue in town.”

Situated not far from Puebla’s main square, the Zocalo, Rosewood Puebla is housed within a collection of historic buildings centered around a private courtyard. A 300-year-old chapel in the courtyard will be in use for wedding ceremonies.

A mélange of past and present, the architectural design showcases traditional craftsmanship like arches, ironwork, and the city’s renowned Talavera pottery. The 78 guest rooms were designed with oversized bath tubs, top-notch entertainment systems, and local artwork. Top digs: The Rosewood Suite has a 1,215-foot terrace with views over the old city and surrounding volcanoes.

Rosewood Puebla promises to bring some hot additions to “Puebla’s dynamic dining scene” with the signature restaurant Pasquinel Bistrot, an outdoor lounge called Bar Los Lavaderos, and the easygoing European-style Café Azul. There’s also a rooftop bar serving Mexican tapas, local charcuterie, and margaritas.

Other facilities include the Sense spa, rooftop swimming pool, fitness center, and event/function space.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts operates 18 luxury properties in 11 countries, with 17 new hotels under development, including the iconic Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, which will open this summer in Paris after a dramatic restoration project.
