Planning a beach wedding? Go one step further and rent out an entire island for the big day. The Royal Davui Island Resort is located on its own isle, just off the southwestern coast of Fiji, nestled in between jungle foliage and perched on a barrier reef. Privacy is key, with island access confined to a scenic helicopter ride from Nadi or a rapid transit across the lagoon from the resort’s own jetty. Newlyweds will find seclusion here, with only 16 villas dotted around the 10 acres of this adults-only sanctuary.

The destination specializes in ceremonies with an on-site wedding planner on hand to make sure the big day goes smoothly. Betrothed couples will have an extensive menu of ceremonies to choose from, such as a traditional Fijian-style Davui ceremony complete with a village choir and Fijian warrior guard and escort, or the more intimate elopement package for those seeking a simpler affair. Venue choice is abundant, ranging from a private deck overlooking Beqa Lagoon or under a 150-year-old Banyan tree. Extra Touch: We hear the private sand cay offers the most intimate location, reachable by the resort’s boat.

Those looking for a more memorable experience can hire out the entire island for their wedding party. However, only your closest family and friends will fit on this petite paradise, which has a capacity for up to 32 guests.

Pre-ceremony, brides can enjoy a mellowing moment with their bridesmaids at a private spa get-together. Good to know: Each of the two new ocean-view spa rooms has its own private relaxation lounge. Pleasant Touch: Spa products use only locally harvested ingredients for treatments such as a detoxifying island wrap, refresher facial and island-style manicure.

Picture This: Post-ceremony, guests can partake in sunset cocktails, and then dine on local fare on one of the secluded, private dining decks.

Post-nuptials, the bride and groom can retreat to their honeymoon haven; we suggest the cliff-perched Royal Davui Plunge Pool Suite. It’s the largest villa on the island and has a private indoor garden, two decks and, of course, a plunging infinity pool.

Fellow guests won’t have to skimp on the luxury and can choose from their own villa or a thatched Fijian villa. Each accommodation has multiple seaside decks for a beachside breakfast and its own infinity pool. Nice Touch: Check out the Premium Pool Vale; it has a large veranda that’s an extension of the living area, as well as panoramic views of Beqa Lagoon.

The fun doesn’t have to stop once the big day is over; everyone can enjoy the catamarans, snorkeling, and paddleboards that the area has on-hand. The more adventurous type can check out the shark feeding dives off Beqa, where a conservation area attracts seven species of sharks. Couples can slip away for a sand cay picnic or indulge in a couple’s massage treatment.
