Fabled Sichuan province is paradise for travelers—with a rich culinary tradition, historic sites, and stunning landscapes. Here at the foot of Mount Emei—one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, a UNESCO World Heritage site—a new luxury resort is making waves.

The Bangkok-based Anantara brand recently opened the Anantara Emei Resort & Spa, its third hotel in China. The Anantara Emei Resort is also the first international hotel in this beautiful part of the world. The property has expansive facilities to cater to its 90 Lake and Garden View Rooms, 40 Pavilions, and 20 Jacuzzi and Pool Villas. There is a tennis court, an outdoor pool next to a lake, and a fitness center with yoga classes, along with meeting venues and an Anantara Spa with signature treatments like “China’s Ancient Tea Journey.”

The Anantara Emei Resort has five different F&B outlets, including Jinyi, the Chinese restaurant, where regional Sichuan specialties take center stage. Cooking classes are available, and include tours to local markets. Visitors can also enjoy excursions to natural outdoor hot springs and also follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims who climb Mount Emei to visit the 76 Buddhist monasteries.
