Singita Malilangwe House in Zimbabwe Gets a Makeover

In southeastern Zimbabwe, the Singita Pamushana Lodge offers a luxury safari experience while contributing to the conservation of the 130,000-acre wildlife reserve on which its situated. (Bordering Gonarezhou National Park, the remote Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is operated by Singita's non-profit conservation partner in Zimbabwe, the Malilangwe Trust.) The lodge’s dramatic clifftop location affords panoramic views of the dam below, while the design reflects the culture of the Shangaan people who have lived in the region for thousands of years. It’s next to this lodge that an exclusive-use retreat called Singita Malilangwe House has just unveiled a makeover that—like the lodge—celebrates the region’s rich tribal history and wilderness setting.

Equipped with five bedrooms accommodating up to 10 guests, the villa is distinguished by expansive indoor-outdoor spaces that flow together. (Each bedroom has its own private deck, and the master bedroom has an indoor-outdoor shower with an automated panel of glass for better soaking up the views.) There’s an outside dining platform, interactive kitchen and outdoor pool that’s positioned on the edge of the main deck for taking in the panoramas.

Services include a dedicated chef, butler, and private game vehicle with experienced Field Guide. Singita Malilangwe House is part of Singita’s Private Villa Collection, which comprises seven lodges designed for privacy and flexibility for families or groups of friends. Singita works with guests to personalize the safari itinerary, meals, and activities based on their interests.

Access to Singita Pamushana Lodge and Malilangwe House is via Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo International Airport), followed by a Federal Airlines scheduled flight from O.R. Tambo Airport to Buffalo Range Airport (Mondays and Thursdays only). Note that there are also seasonal connections (on Thursdays) through Victoria Falls, and it’s also possible to book private air charters to the lodge.
