Small Luxury Hotels Welcomes Eight More Properties

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has announced eight additions to its portfolio of hotels in Belgium, Greece, Indonesia, Italy and Mexico.

Officially opened on September 6, 2021, Juliana Hotel Brussels in Belgium brings five-star excellence to the historical Place des Martyrs in Brussels. Behind the white façade of the listed neo-classical building lie 43 guestrooms and suites, an Italian-inspired restaurant and a wellness center. This fall, the hotel will offer a series of private tours where guests can immerse themselves in the stories of five of the city’s popular landmarks, including the Opera House and The Grand Place.

Formerly an iconic restaurant, Olympos Naoussa in Thessaloniki, Greece, was recently rebranded as ON Residence. The rebrand sees the addition of 60 guestrooms and suites, and the Tiger Loop bar. Every inch of the heritage property has been restored and pays homage to its past, once the heartland of a jet-setting clientele of artists, celebrities and politicians. The seafront hotel leads a revival of the city, bringing culture and cuisine in a glamorous setting.

SLH has added three more properties to its sustainable hotel portfolio, The Considerate Collection: Cascioni Eco Retreat, Naturalis Bio Resort & Spa and Desa Hay. Opened in 2021, Cascioni Eco Retreat in Italy is a family-owned, Ecolabel-certified retreat, nestled within an olive grove and a protected lagoon oasis. It’s perched over the rugged northern coastline of Sardinia and has 15 guestrooms and a Mediterranean Spa.

Naturalis Bio Resort & Spa in Martano, Italy is an 18th-century Puglian masseria, or farming estate, which has been restored following the principles of bio-architecture into a 14-room hideaway located in the hills of Southern Italy. The estate’s fields are still tended organically, supplying the kitchen with abundant produce, besides beauty extracts for the spa.

Six Jabu villas and a Joglo-style restaurant make up Desa Hay in Bali, Indonesia. The adults-only eco-sanctuary opened in March. Built in harmony with nature, 40 percent of the resort’s land has been left as green space and the resort exclusively hires Indonesian staff. Guest experiences focus on Balinese culture, from local cooking classes, sunrise hikes on Mount Batur, walks in the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces and spiritual experiences at Besakih Temple.

CPH Pevero Hotel in Porto Cervo, Italy is surrounded by water with five lagoon-like swimming pools crisscrossed with waterfalls, including children’s splash zones. The resort is in Costa Smeralda, home to several luxury beach resorts. Guests can relax in the private area reserved for them on the Piccolo Pevero beach. All rooms have a balcony or private terrace. The resort also features a full-service spa, and six restaurants and bars.

Formerly a goat farm, Lupaia in Torrita di Siena is a sustainably focused agriturismo in the heart of Tuscany. The country estate dates to 1622 and has 12 guestrooms and suites spread over five rural farmhouse buildings. Rustic yet luxurious, they feature comfortable beds and modern walk-in showers paired with traditional tiles, exposed brick, bleached wood and ornate antique furnishings. Guests can enjoy splendid views of medieval villages, vineyards and olive groves of Montepulciano.

Set on a private stretch of white beaches in Mexico’s Quintana Roo, TAGO Tulum offers palm-shaded relaxation and round-the-clock service, with design touches showcasing back-to-nature luxury. Thatched roofs and authentic Mayan stone give this retreat a laidback beach-hut style, where guests can awake to the sound of the crashing surf, followed by a soak in their private plunge pool, a feature available in all 23 rooms. The TAGO restaurant fuses Yucatán ingredients with international classics. Off-site activities include snorkeling in the Gran Cenote, jungle exploration and tours of the ancient Mayan ruins.
