Thompson Central Park New York Announces Leadership Team

Ahead of its opening this November, Thompson Central Park New York has announced the appointments of executive team leaders. Matt Slippoy has been hired as the general manager and Amanda Reed will serve as director of sales and marketing. With extensive experience overseeing well-known properties, this executive duo will open the latest hotel to join the Thompson Hotels brand line-up in New York next month, in the former space of Parker New York.

Slippoy has more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, including the opening of the Gramercy Park Hotel. In his new role, Slippoy will oversee strategic direction across operations while guiding the hotel’s opening and development. Prior to joining the team at Thompson Central Park New York, Slippoy served as the general manager of Westminster Hotel.

As director of sales and marketing, Reed will oversee growth initiatives and campaigns for Thompson Central Park New York, leading multi-faceted marketing programs, expanding the hotel’s clientele and executing cutting-edge events. Reed has been a member of the Parker New York team since 2019 and was nominated for "2019 Hyatt Sales Leader of the Year." Her prior experience includes executive positions with Viceroy Hotel Group and Morgans Hotel Group, where she worked across sales and marketing for destination properties.

On November 1, Thompson Central Park New York will welcome guests to freshly designed interiors, including a new lobby design, public spaces and 352 contemporary guestrooms and suites. The opening also includes the return of culinary hotspot Burger Joint and the introduction of the new cocktail bar Standing Room Only. The hotel’s grand opening will culminate in spring 2022, with the arrival of more soon-to-be announced dining destinations, intimate event space and a total of 587 rooms and suites, including the opening of The Upper Stories, a collection of luxurious accommodations offering expansive views, high-end amenities and exclusive offerings and programming, including access to the private Upper Stories Lounge.

One of five Thompson Hotels properties expected to open across the U.S. this year, Thompson Central Park New York’s opening further amplifies the brand’s promise to provide guests with the ultimate “in-the-know” experience at the refined edge of travel.
